Parish Social Ministry
(Outreach)

Parish Social Ministry(PSM) is here to
help the members of our community
in any way we can. Sometimes, we
can help you sort out a problem or
give you a referral over the phone.
In other cases, you may need to
come in to more thoroughly review
you circumstances and explore options.
Whatever the situation, there's probably
something we can do for you.
We have resources to help with grocery
shopping, free legal assistance, prescription
discount plans, suicide prevention, domestic
abuse, employment assistance, services for
veterans, the elderly and those with special
needs; the list goes on and on. We feature
individual services and programs, in detail,
in the Bulletin, so make sure you look for it.
If you are unable to pay your bills, we can
evaluate your circumstances to see what
services you may qualify for and then help
advocate for you to get them. You may be
eligible for services that you do not even
know existed.
We know that there are those of you who
need help, but are too proud or embarrased
to come forward. You may not want to be
seen coming into our office. Rest assured
that no one will know why you are coming.
You could just be making a donation or inquiring
about our Caregiver's Support Group among other
things. We respect your privacy and want you to
know that everything is kept strictly confidential.
In addition to personal assistance, we have a
Special Needs Advocate on hand who helps
to make sure that our parish facilities are
accessible to everone and address issues that
come up in this area. We'll schedule guest speakers
and workshops if there's an issue of importance
that many of you are asking about.
All this in addition to the Food Pantry that many
of you are familiar with and so generously support.
This can be very helpful to those who ask themselves
the question "eat or heat?". We can help you supple-
ment your nutritional needs, so you can use the
money you have for other needs.
During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday
season, we offer food for the holiday dinner and
gifts for under the tree. It's through the generosity
of our parishioners we are able to have this available
for those individuals and families that may need it.
If you need us, please call or come in. If you know
someone who can benefit from our services, please
encourage them to contact us. If you would like
to make a donation, we greatly appreciate it!
Our regular hours are Tuesday, 12-3 PM,
Wednesday and Thursday, 10AM-2PM
Appointments may be arranged for other
times if necessary. Call us at 516-775-0840
to receive the help and support that you need.
