The Legion of Mary

Frank Duff founded the Legion of Mary on September 7, 1921. From that date until his death,November 7, 1980,he guided the worldwide extension of the legion with heroic dedication. The object of the Legion of
Mary is the Glory of God through the holiness of it's members developed by prayer and active co-operation, under ecclesiastical guidance in Mary's
and the church's work to advance the reign of Christ in the world. In
Saint Catherine's parish, the Legion of Mary meets on Wednesday mornings in the Sienna Center following the 8:30 AM Mass in the Church. We have opening prayers, the Rosary, which is followed by a business meeting and closing prayers. Each member does apostolate work. We visit Franklin Hospital, Garden Care Nursing Home and the Senior Residence, where Communion is distributed. There is also an opportunity to become an auxiliary member of the Legion. They are not required to attend the weekly meetings nor to do active work. They simply promise to say the Rosary daily and the Legion prayers. These members are our army and pray for us to have success in our apostolate work. The active members also pray the Rosary daily, attend Mass daily when possible and recite the Catena (Legion prayers). Our prayer and aim is to kindle everywhere the fires of Divine Love, without the loss of anyone and when the battle of life is over, the Legion will reassemble in the Kingdom of God's Love and Glory.
