THE DIVINE MERCY CENACLE
What is a Cenacle? The Cenacle, or small faith sharing community, is as old as the Church itself. The earliest followers of the Lord
met in small groups to encourage one another
through prayer, Eucharist and scriptures.
The word cenacle itself refers to the "Upper Room"
where Jesus first instituted the Eucharist and later appeared to His disciples
to encourage them to proclaim the message of mercy
through the forgiveness of sins. The Divine Mercy
Cenacle has that same two fold thrust from the "Upper Room"--
to foster devotion to the Eucharistic Lord and to see how the
message of God's mercy, made incarnate in Christ and fostered
through the devotion of St. Faustina, can be lived out in our day
to day experiences.
Meeting Format: Our monthy meeting always begins
with prayers of gratitude. We follow with a reading and discussion;
the reading comes from "formation manual" that weaves together
Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and reflections
from the Diary of St. Faustina. In the discussion, members of the group
share their struggles and joys in applying the Divine Mercy message
to their everyday lives.
The second half of the meeting centers around Eucharistic Adoration;
in silence, we come before the very throne of God's mercy
made real for us in the Eucharistic presence of our Lord.
We pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for the sick and the dying
as well as the Holy Souls in Purgatory. We pray the Litany of
Reparation for the sick and the dying and we close by
bringing our own petitions before the Lord.
We meet every fourth Friday of the month in the Sienna
Center at 7:30 PM. ALL ARE WELCOME!
